MAINE

                 "The way life should be"

Maine is truly a four-season vacation paradise. Enjoy quality family adventures or a day of solitude on a secluded lake. With all the beauty and serenity this area has to offer it will be like a step back in time. Come and enjoy your favorite outdoor activity and let life as you know it, behind.

Fall foliage is spectacular and the beauty is enhanced by the majestic views of Mt. Katahdin.

The fascinating Loons will add to the pleasure of canoeing the many pristine and secluded lakes Maine has to offer.

The many lakes, rivers and ponds easily fulfill all your water sport desires. From the true enthusiast to the novice, you will find that special fishing spot. Also very popular is the excitement of ice fishing. There are popular swimming areas or you can just find a stream or waterfall to play in.
The exhilaration of whitewater rafting is a big attraction. For those of you with less demanding needs there are paddle boat and canoe rentals in the area. You can also take float plan rides and see the beauty from above.
Mt. Katahdin, in Baxter State Park, is the terminus for the Appalachian Trail. Mountain climbing is very popular there but there are lesser mountains you can conquer. Nature walks, photography, and the thrill of watching the varied wildlife make for a memorable vacation.
With the beauty of a Maine winter comes the excitement of snowmobiling and skiing. There are some 12,000 miles of groomed trails in the state of Maine. The snowmobile trail is just past my driveway and leads to anywhere. There are snowmobile rentals in the area as well as plenty of Maine hospitality and good food. You will find a very diverse trail system that includes wooded trails, abandon railroads, fields, lakes and old logging roads. I made sure White Spruce Cabins is far enough north to be in Maine's snowbelt since we are an avid snowmobiling family. The trails in Maine only end when your vacation does. Come and enjoy. For snowmobile trail and law information, go to the LINKS PAGE.
Maine is well known for its diverse range of hunting and fishing opportunities. You can hunt right from White Spruce Cabins or drive to find that lucky spot. Many nice racked deer have been taken close to camp as well as moose. Snowshoe rabbits, grouse, woodcock, coyote and bear also make for a challenging hunt. Fisherman will find the many bodies of water in the area ideal for smallmouth bass, brook trout and land locked salmon. Guide service is available in the area but certainly not needed. For hunting and fishing laws and season dates go to the LINKS page.

Baxter State Park

Within the boundaries of this great park are some of the most tremendous natural features of eastern North America. The park is well known for it's beauty and geological interests. With glacial land formations, spectacular waterfalls, kettlehole ponds, pristine forests, huge boulders of pink granite and the massive Mt. Katahdin. Mt Katahdin is the highest point in Maine and during most of the year the first place in the U.S. touched by the morning sun. Also the terminus of the Appalachian Trail. Over 50 interconnecting trails give access to the many peaks, ponds and falls in the park. Hike, climb, swim, canoe until your heart is content. There are 48 other mountains in Baxter Park. There are also lesser mountains in the Northern Katahdin Valley that offer good trips for the entire family. Moose watching is very popular in the park as well as many other areas. Baxter Park is just a short drive from White Spruce Cabins.
